Swedish design group Front is serving art and tasteful poetry on plates, cups and teapots in their design for Italian Casssina. The pieces are decorated with text relating to food in a humorous street poetry kind of way. The drawings of food casts shadows on the surface in a tromp l´œil type of technique. The series is called Garnish (garnera) and that is exactly what Front has done with the tableware I suppose. What do you think? The plate with the tomato below says :
To my favorite honeydew, do you carrot all for me? My heart beets for you, with your turnip nose, and radish face. You are a peach. If we cantaloupe. Lettuce marry. Weed make a swell pear
Much to my liking I must say. The whole approach to tableware is new and fun. Easygoing and a expression of today. Great to see new exciting design even before the extensive Milan Design week. Tomorrow I am off to Milan in the morning. So looking forward to it. Come with me!
